Normandy, France

At the hotel in Bayeu, Melissa want to rest. I went for a drink after we checked in. There I met two men who were planning to go to Normandy for the first time since WWII. One drink turned into three and they told me their stories. By the time Melissa came down, our plans for the next day had changed. Touring the war sites was not on this trips plan, but we needed to see the beaches of Normandy and the battle sights.

This was an extremely moving day. What those men did is hard to appreciate until you walk the beach 50+ years later and see the remaining pieces of the equipment. If you have seen SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, you can visualize that day on the beaches.
