Vista Dome train to Machu Picchu Aguas Calientes, Peru |
Aguas Calientes, Peru
There are no roads to Machu Picchu. To get to Machu Picchu there are two options. You either do a 4 day hike though the Inca trail or to go by train. We have opted for the latter.
The train journey runs through the Sacred Valley following the Urubamba (also called Vilcanote) River. The Vistadome train has carriages with large panoramic windows so you don’t miss any of the scenic views.

The scenery is impressive.
The final arrival point is Aguas Calientes. From here we will be taken up to Machu Picchu by bus where we will spend the next two days.
The train does run next to the Urubamba river. it was flowing fast. I saw a bottle of coca cola floating down the river and it passed the train.
