Concan, TX

Concan is 75 miles to the west of San Antonio. The frio river (cold in Spanish) is clear and beautiful. It lives up to it name and is a very hospitable place to enjoy a hot summer day in Texas. Around Concan are many cabins on the river. My favorite is Neal’s. They have a restaurant and a shuttle service to take you upriver so you can float back to your cabin.

Also in this area is Garner State Park. With hiking, camping, and the frio river to keep you cool, it is the most popular State Park in Texas, judged by the number of overnight visitors accommodated each year.
