The best travel times are when you get lucky. As we settled into our NYC trip, we managed to do just that. With the NFL playoffs in full swing and the girls in full shopping mode, we headed to Chinatown. The bargains soon overwhelmed the girls and we were told our involvement was not needed in this shopping excursion. Find a bar and we will find you we we are done. Sometimes, I can follow instructions perfectly and this was one of those times.

We walked past a restaurant into what appeared to be a bar. As it turned out, we were at Forlinni’s Italian Restaurant. They have two doors in. One for the small bar and the other into the main eating area. They had a TV and drinks. This was all we needed. Behind the bar was Derrick Forilinni. As it turns out Derrick was a drinker, gambler, a restaurant owner, and a multitasker. Because he was doing all these things during the time we were there.

We were thoroughly entertained by Derrick. I had my first Manhattan, Some incredible samples the kitchen, and some great conversation. By the time we left, we had reservations to come back and let him serve us dinner. We were not to be disappointed. I had my doubts if I would like New Yorker’s and then I meet this guy. We were so impressed. If you are ever in New York. You need to call Derrick. if you want to eat there during the week….Forget about it. City hall keeps him too busy. The locals know how to eat well. But on the weekend, they are all at home and this place is a real find.
