Trip Summary
Brussels, Belgium |
Brussels, Belgium
We had been booked for Spain for 6 months when we found out that we needed to delay our trip for a week due to our daughter playing in an important volleyball tournament. There were no frequent flyer tickets left, and rather than miss a year we reworked our agenda. I was able to book a week at the Conrad Hilton in Brussels with Hilton points and we decided to make that our home base. We used the high speed train to visit neighboring cities on day trips. We also booked 3 days in Prague before returning to Austin. The last minute planning worked out great and we had one of our best trips.
Brussels is sandwiched between France and the Netherlands. People in Belgium speak Flemish and French and lucky for us, English is commonly spoken as well. Brussels is the capital of the European Union and we did stop by and wave to a few world leaders on our way to a pub.
We had 6 of the 7 nights in Brussels and an accidental night in Amsterdam.
